Swell declining, but high surf advisory extended

Surf on Oahu’s south shores is declining, but a high surf advisory posted for all islands been extended to Saturday morning.
Wave faces of 5 to 8 feet are stil possible Friday.
West shores should see surf of 3 to 6 feet; east shores are at 2 to 4 feet and wave heights on north shores are at 2 feet or less.
The surf will remain above the summer average Saturday, with wave faces of 3 to 6 feet on Oahu south shore beaches.
The National Weather Service said a storm in the South Pacific generated waves that began reaching all of the main Hawaiian islands Thursday.
Beach-goers can expect strong, breaking waves, shore break and rip currents that could make swimming difficult and dangerous.
People going to the beach should heed advice given by lifeguards and exercise caution, the weather service said.
