Hot temperatures, high humidity and light, variable winds have been causing clouds to build up over leeward and mauka areas of the islands in the afternoons into the early evenings.

The National Weather Service posted and then canceled a flood advisory for Lanai Saturday night radar showed heavy rain over the southeastern part of the island near Manele Harbor at about 8 p.m.

The advisory included the Four Seasons Resort and expired at 9:45 p.m.

Radar showed several areas of active showers Saturday including the southeast slopes of Mauna Loa from Naalehu to Wood Valley and Central and Leeward Oahu from Wahiawa to Makakilo. Rainfall amounts ranged for a half-inch to an inch an hour, with some isolated higher amounts.

A high temperature of 95 degrees for this date was set Saturday at Kahului Airport. It breaks the old record of 90 set in 1991. Hilo tied a record of 90 degrees, set in 1981, and has set or tied records for the past four days. The 90 degree temperature Friday beat an old record of 89 set in 1974. The 89 degree temperature Thursday tied a 1995 record. The 89 degree temperature Wednesday tied a 1995 record.

Forecasters say some relief may come Monday and Tuesday as light tradewinds return to the state. But the high humidity and hot weather is likely to continue.
