Suspect jailed in NC courthouse shooting
RALEIGH, N.C. >> A suspect has been taken into custody in the shooting at a North Carolina courthouse that wounded two men.
Nash County jail officials say 36-year-old Demond Levar Morris of Rocky Mount was jailed Thursday on two counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill. He was being held on $500,000 bond.
Jail officials declined to describe how he was arrested.
Morris had been identified as a suspect Tuesday hours after the shooting. Authorities have not elaborated on his role in the shooting.
The shooting around lunchtime caused shoppers to duck into stores for cover on the normally peaceful main street of Nashville. The victims were hospitalized in Greenville in critical condition as of Wednesday.
