CRAIG GIMA / CGIMA@STARADVERTISER.COM
Traffic backed up in the ewa direction beyond the School Street offramp Saturday evening as work on the H-1 freeway rehabilitation project closed the right lane of the freeway through Kalihi.

Starting Wednesday night, state transportation officials plan to have full and partial lane closures of east-bound and west-bound traffic on the H-1 freeway in Kalihi from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

The closures for pavement resurfacing will continue through Nov. 26.

Full closures of east-bound traffic will take place between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. from Wednesday through Friday and Sunday through Nov. 19.

The east-bound traffic will be shut down from the Moanalua Freeway Fort Shafter/King Street offramp to the Kalihi Street overpass.

Moanalua Freeway traffic will be detoured to the King Street exit, and H-1 airport viaduct traffic will be detoured to the Middle Street/Dillingham Boulevard offramp, also known as Exit 18 B.

East-bound drivers may reconnect with the east-bound H-1 Freeway at the Kalihi Street onramp near Farrington High School.

West-bound drivers will experience full and particle closures from the Kalihi Overpass to the Middle Street Overpass from 8 p.m.  to 5 a.m. from  Nov. 19 through Nov. 21 and from Nov. 23 to Nov. 26.

West-bound drivers will be re-routed  to the Likelike Highway offramp, also known as Exit 20A.

Drivers can re-enter the westbound H-1 freeway at the Middle Street onramp.

Drivers accessing the airport viaduct are advised to turn left onto School Street, continue to Middle Street over the freeway and to the airport viaduct onramp at  the Kamehameha Highway intersection.
