Kalanianaole Highway reopened after brush fire
Fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of a brush fire at the Hawaii Kai Golf Course that closed Kalanianaole Highway for more than 2 hours early Monday morning.
Police closed Kalanianaole Highway between the Hawaii Kai Golf Course and the Makapuu Lighthouse as crews battled the fire, which was reported at 3:39 a.m.
The highway reopened by about 6:15 a.m. after firefighters extinguished the fire and left the area.
The fire burned about 200 yards of brush in windy conditions and was under control at 4:18 a.m.
Eighteen firefighters from five companies fought the blaze.
No structures were affected. No injuries were reported.
