Lopez to ring in new year at Caesars

LAS VEGAS » Caesars Entertainment Corp. officials say pop star Jennifer Lopez will perform one night only — New Year’s Eve night — at The Colosseum on the Las Vegas Strip.

The company’s Monday announcement said the musical star will perform her greatest hits and feature 25 musicians on stage.

Tickets to the 10:30 p.m. New Year’s Eve show dubbed "The Best is Yet to Come" went on sale Tuesday and cost $175.

The news follows reports in October that Lopez was in talks behind-the-scenes to perform at Planet Hollywood, another Caesars Entertainment Corp. casino-hotel. A Caesars spokeswoman said at the time that the company hadn’t made an offer to Lopez despite reports to the contrary.

Yellowstone open on east side

YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. » The east entrance of Yellowstone National Park is now open for the winter season.

The National Park Service announced that snowmobiles and snow coaches may now travel from the park’s East Entrance over Sylvan Pass to Fishing Bridge Junction.

Winter weather can force road closures and visitors should verify the status of any road they intend to use with the park.

The road from the park’s North Entrance at Gardiner, Mont., through Mammoth Hot Springs and on to Cooke City, Mont., outside the park’s Northeast Entrance, is open to vehicle traffic all year.
