Hilo man charged in domestic violence case involving teenager
A Hilo man was charged with assault after an argument on Sunday with a teenager who was injured.
Hawaii Island police said the domestic violence incident was reported at 9:17 a.m. after a 17-year-old boy was involved in an argument with a 52-year-old household member, at their home. As the argument escalated, the man reportedly struck the teenager with a sharp object, causing a laceration to his upper body.
The victim was taken by ambulance to Hilo Medical Center with substantial injuries and was treated and released.
Michael Alan Hoke was arrested at the scene and taken to the Hilo police cellblock, and later charged with second-degree assault. His bail was set at $2,000.
