Art of Aloha and Hawaii Doggie Bakery are Hawaii’s winners in the American Small Business Championship hosted by the Service Core of Retired Executives (SCORE), with financial support from Sam’s Club.

The local companies each will receive a year’s worth of SCORE mentoring, an all-expenses-paid trip to a training event, a $1,000 Sam’s Club gift card, and national publicity.

Art of Aloha and Hawaii Doggie Bakery are among 102 winners from 48 states that were chosen based on written, videotaped and photo entries detailing the sacrifices their owners made to achieve success.

Winners were determined by online voting and a panel of judges comprising small business experts, and the prizes are underwritten via a $700,000 grant from Sam’s Club.

The winners’ stories can be read online.
