Two Hawaii playgrounds among U.S. top 50

The Camp H.R. Erdman Nature Built Playspace on Oahu and Kamakana Playground in Kona are ranked 7th and 11th in the U.S.

The playgrounds were ranked by the Early Childhood Education Zone on a list of the 50 Best Playgrounds in America, released Monday after reviewing hundreds of possibilities.

Winning playgrounds were chosen based on design, accessibility, educational programming and options for unstructured play.

“We have worked hard to create a list that covers various playgrounds, play spaces and activities,” said report author Sara Moore, in a statement. “We love that there are such amazing facilities around the country that provide a nurturing and safe environment for children and adults alike to play in.”
