Kristeen Hanselman, associate executive Director of the University of Hawaii Professional Assembly since December 2007, has been promoted to executive director.

She replaces J. N. Musto, who will retire Sept. 1.

Musto served as executive director of UHPA, which represents nearly 4,000 faculty members at 10 campuses in the University of Hawaii system, for more than 35 years.

At UHPA, Hanselman has been responsible for contract grievance enforcement, collective bargaining, membership engagement programs, government affairs and communications.

The UHPA board of directors voted on Hanselman’s appointment over the weekend after conducting a national search.
