A 12-year-old boy was in serious condition after an apparent near-drowning Wednesday afternoon at Hilton Hawaiian Village’s lagoon, according to an Emergency Medical Services report.

The boy apparently had trouble in the water while trying to assist his younger brother after a stand-up paddle board incident in the Waikiki resort’s lagoon, according to the report. 

Responding to the scene shortly before 4:15 p.m., paramedics treated the boy and transported him to a hospital, EMS said.
