Motorcyclist critically injured in Maili crash

A 30-year-old Waianae man was critically injured Monday when his motorcycle collided with a van at the Farrington Highway and Milikami Street in Maili.
According to police, the motorcyclist was traveling west at a high rate of speed and was unable to stop before colliding with the van that was turning left onto the highway from Milikami Street.
The rider suffered internal injuries and was transported to Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Center.
The driver of the van, a 46-year-old Waianae woman, suffered a neck injury and was transported in serious condition to the Queen’s Medical Center-West.

Farrington Highway was closed for about three hours Monday as police investigated.
All lanes were reopened at about 6:15 p.m.
Police initially closed both eastbound lanes and one westbound lane from Mailiili Road to Milikami Street. But at about 3 p.m. they closed both westbound lanes and rerouted traffic to Hakimo Road.
