An accident involving multiple vehicles backed up traffic on the H-1 freeway in the Koko Head direction Tuesday morning.
There were no immediate reports of serious injuries.
But the accident, just before 7 a.m., closed several lanes, backing up town-bound traffic on the already crowded freeway until the scene was cleared.
Traffic also backed up on alternate routes as motorists tried to find ways to get around the congestion.
