Sharp-eyed victim gets stolen bicycle back

A man helped recover his stolen bicycle after he spotted a suspect with the bicycle in Waikiki Tuesday evening.

Police said the suspect, a 37-year-old homeless man, took the unattended bicycle in the McCully area at about 1:20 p.m. Tuesday.

The victim witnessed the theft and gave chase, but the suspect got away, police said.

Later that evening, the victim saw the suspect with his bicycle in Waikiki and called police.

Officers arrested the supsect on suspicion of second-degree theft at 6:25 p.m. near the intersection of Kaiulani Ave. and Koa Street and recovered the bicycle.
