Broken water pipe at UH art auditorium causes flooding
Classes in the University of Hawaii Manoa art auditorium had to be rescheduled on Tuesday after a water pipe broke, flooding two floors overnight.
Steve Meder, assistant vice chancellor, said a water pipe broke on the third floor of the art building Monday night and the leak was not discovered until 4 a.m.
The fire department was called at 5:08 a.m. and were joined by UH facilities management staff. HFD and facilities management worked together to stop the problem and clean up the water overflow.
Water from the leak reached areas on the second and first floors.
While there was no serious or permanent damage to the building, there was damage to some audio-visual equipment in the first-floor art auditorium.
