Three men and three women are safe after the canoe they were paddling in was submerged off Waikiki Beach Sunday morning.

The Honolulu Fire Department responded to paddlers in distress at Popular’s Surf Spot near 2255 Kalakaua Ave. at 8:10 a.m.

Upon arrival, fire officials found an outrigger canoe about 100 yards off shore submerged.
