Motorists are being advised to avoid Waialae Avenue on Tuesday as crews work to repair the road damaged by a broken water main.

Meanwhile, a semi-trailer broke an axle on Harding Avenue at 5th Avenue at about 11:30 a.m., closing the east-bound lane.

Crews finished repairs to the pipe at about 10:30 a.m., but work continued to repair and repave the road.

The break to the 12-inch main was reported around 7:10 p.m. Monday.

Police closed Waialae Avenue in both directions between 13th Avenue and Koko Head Avenue.

Motorists are advised to continue using alternate routes until a paving contractor completes the work this evening.
