Police shut down two lanes fronting 2220 S. King St.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death of a 86-year-old man who died Wednesday from multiple injuries he received when he was hit by a moped on South King Street near the McCully- Moiliili Library a day earlier.

Police said Waikie Lin was in a marked crosswalk heading mauka  on South King Street near Poha Lane at 2 p.m. when he was hit by a moped driven by a 30-year-old man.

Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the traffic death, police said.

Paramedics treated the man, who suffered multiple injuries, and took him to the hospital in critical condition. Police said he died at the hospital Wednesday night. The moped driver suffered minor injuries.
