Conservation crew members airlifted from Sacred Falls ridge
Honolulu Fire Department rescue personnel assisted eight people who experienced difficulty exiting the Koolau Ridgeline Trail near Sacred Falls Valley on Sunday afternoon.
The party was made up of contractors who had spent a week in the valley installing fencing to protect native plants. As the group was making its way off the trail in advance of predicted bad weather, two of them became unable to continue due to exhaustion.
HFD personnel airlifted the workers off the trail to a landing zone established at Hauula Elementary School.
No injuries were reported.
