The Hawaii soccer team could not overcome the absence of two key players in a 3-1 defeat at UNLV on Friday night.

UH (2-5-1), which played without striker Kama Pascua (red card) and goalkeeper Monk Berger (concussion), dropped to 0-3 on the mainland this season.

The Rainbow Wahine got a goal from T.J. Reyno on a cross from Sarah Lau in the 40th minute, tying the game at 1-1. It was Reyno’s first goal of the season and third career.

But the Rebels (4-4) scored quickly around backup goalkeeper Erica Young out of the halftime break and added another goal in the 71st minute, sealing the win.

UH continues play at Nevada on Sunday.
