Kauai police arrest Lihue man suspected in fatal assault

Kauai police on Sunday arrested a 37-year-old Lihue man in connection with the death of a man in a parking lot early Saturday morning.

The victim has been identified as Gary Allianic, Jr., 38, of Lihue.

His body was found early Saturday morning in a parking lot near the Kauai War Memorial Convention Hall. Allianic died of injuries sustained in an assault.

“Our team of top notch investigators with assistance from the Patrol Services Bureau and the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney was able to swiftly apprehend the suspect”, said Acting Assistant Chief Richard Rosa with the Investigative Services Bureau. “Our community is safer as a result of their actions.”
