Oahu remained under a flood advisory early Saturday morning and the entire state is under a flash flood watch as a damp weather system hovers over the islands this weekend.

National Weather Service forecasters said moderate to heavy showers were dumping one to two inches of rain an hour over parts of Oahu early Saturday.

A flood advisory for Oahu is in effect until 3:45 a.m., and the entire state remains under a flash flood watch.

Steady rains led to the closure of Kamehameha Highway near Waiahole stream for about an hour during rush hour Friday morning. The city also closed the Honolulu Zoo Friday because of the heavy rain.

Forecasters said a low forming near Kauai Friday will shift the majority of heavy rain to the Garden Isle and Oahu through the weekend. The rainy weather will continue into early next week before trade winds return by midweek, they said.

A more typical trade-wind pattern is expected to return by Wednesday as high pressure builds to the north-northwest, forecasters said.
