Maui police arrested a 38-year-old Haiku man on Sunday in connection with an alleged armed robbery in Kihei.
The alleged victim told police that four men and a woman robbed him at gunpoint of an undisclosed amount of cash and property and stole his vehicle.
The incident was reported about 9:45 p.m. Sunday.
Police located the stolen vehicle but the driver refused to stop and evaded the pursuing officers. The vehicle continued on into a cane field area, where the suspect then fled on foot.
The suspect was found hiding in the field and was arrested on suspicion of first-degree robbery, kidnapping, unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle, resisting an order to stop, reckless driving and three firearms-related offences.
The suspect remains in police custody.
