Firefighters are investigating the cause of a two-alarm fire that gutted a garage Tuesday afternoon in Liliha.
Thirty-five Honolulu firefighters responding to the blaze in the 1600 block of Olona Lane about 3:35 p.m. contended with heavy smoke and flames emanating from the two-story home’s garage, said Honolulu fire Capt. David Jenkins.
Five people who had been inside the home when the fire erupted escaped without injury.
Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control and extinguished it at 4:10 p.m.
Jenkins said garage was heavily damaged, but the home was not touched by the fire and the occupants were not displaced.
Damage was estimated to be $80,000 to the structure, $10,000 to its contents and an additional $2,000 to a vehicle.
