SALEM, Mass. >> Prosecutors and lawyers for a teenager convicted of raping and killing his high school math teacher will be back before a judge to discuss his sentence.
Philip Chism was convicted on aggravated rape, robbery and murder charges last week in the 2013 death of Danvers High School teacher Colleen Ritzer.
Chism, who is now 16 year old, faces life in prison. He could be eligible for parole after 15 to 25 years because he was a juvenile at the time of the killing.
Tuesday morning’s hearing in Salem Superior Court is expected to focus on setting a date for sentencing. Chism is not expected to attend.
He also faces separate charges of attempted murder in a Boston court after he allegedly attacked a state youth services worker while awaiting trial.
This kid is bad news. Give him a chance and he will do it again!
