Roderick Bobbitt (5) steals the ball from Oklahoma Sooners guard Buddy Hield (24) in the first half of a men’s basketball game between the Hawaii Warriors and the Oklahoma Sooners at the Diamond Head Classic at the Stan Sheriff Center in Manoa on Wednesday, December 23, 2015.

Hawaii basketball point guard Roderick Bobbitt was named the Big West Player of the Week for the second time this season today after his scoring binge in the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic.

Bobbitt, of Oakland, Calif., became just the third player in UH history to score 30 or more points in back-to-back games in a narrow defeat to No. 3 Oklahoma and a win over Auburn for third place in UH’s marquee nonconference event last week.

He shot a combined 9-for-11 on 3-pointers in those games and made the DHC all-tournament team for his efforts.

Bobbitt, a senior co-captain, also received the Big West’s weekly honor when he beat the buzzer with a layup for a win over Nevada and the Outrigger Resorts Rainbow Classic tournament title.

UH (9-2) continues nonconference play at home on Tuesday against Mississippi Valley State (0-13).
