Fire helicopter lifts injured hiker to Haleakala National Park gate
Maui firefighters rescued a 69-year-old California woman today after she injured her ankle while hiking in Haleakala National Park.
The woman, who was part of a large group camping in the park, was picked up by a fire helicopter and taken to the park entrance about 3 p.m., a Maui Fire Department spokesman said.
Paramedics took the woman to the hospital.
