Rainbow Wahine fall to Pennsylvania
The Hawaii women’s basketball team staged a late rally but could not erase an 18-point deficit as it fell 64-54 to Pennsylvania on Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center.
UH (7-6) dropped to 2-4 at home this season in stark contrast to its 5-0 road record.
The Rainbow Wahine trailed by 14 early in the fourth quarter and got the margin down to three points. UH frantically fired up 3-pointers late in the game to make up a single-digit deficit, to no avail. Center Connie Morris led UH with 13 points, eight rebounds and six blocked shots. Destiny King added 10 points in the loss.
Penn (9-2) off the Ivy League was led by Michelle Nwokedi’s 20-point night. The Quakers built an 18-point lead in the second quarter and led 33-18 at halftime.
