DEPLETED
The Jazz have Rudy Gobert back, but Derrick Favors (back spasms) missed his ninth straight game. Rodney Hood (right ankle) did not play, either, leaving Utah with three available wing players. Jazz coach Quin Snyder said they could play two point guards at the same time or use 6-foot-10 rookie Trey Lyles at small forward. “Foul trouble, obviously, becomes an issue,” Snyder said. “It probably won’t be pretty, but guys can still compete and they can still defend, and that’s the hand you’re dealt. There’s no sense in lamenting it.”
RIM PROTECTORS
The game featured two of the NBA’s top young shot blockers in Whiteside and Gobert. Whiteside entered with a league-best 3.8 blocks per game. He had four. Gobert had four in his second game back from an MCL injury.
