UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII VOG PROJECT Light winds are allowing patches of vog to move up from Hawaii island to other islands in the state.

Light winds are allowing bouts of vog to move over Oahu and other islands and the off-and-on hazy weather is likely to remain over the state for most of the week.

Meanwhile,a high surf warning for north and west facing shores of Kauai County, Oahu and Molokai, and north shores of Maui was downgraded to an advisory this afternoon, as a northwest swell was expected to decline to 16 to 20 feet tonight on north shores and 10 to 14 feet on west shores.

Remnants of a cold front brought cloudy skies and a few, scattered showers to Hawaii. The cloudy conditions are likely to remain over the islands through tonight.

However, most of the rainy weather is staying away from the state as a series of cold fronts passes north of the islands and cuts off the cooling tradewinds.

Forecasters said the light winds are allowing patches of vog to move over Oahu and other smaller islands.

That pattern is likely to continue until Thursday night, when the tail end of a cold front could dip south enough to bring an increased chance of rain to Kauai, and possibly Oahu.

The forecast for Honolulu and south shores of Oahu calls for sunny and hazy skies Tuesday through Thursday with highs around 81, light winds and low temperatures between 59 and 70 degrees at night.
