A large northwest swell has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a high surf warning in effect from noon today to 6 a.m. Tuesady.
The warning covers the north and west facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, and Molokai and the north facing shores of Maui.
Surf along the north facing shores is expected to be 10 to 15 feet by late this afternoon and increasing to 30 to 40 feet tonight and Monday, forecasters said.
