A 19-year-old man was in critical condition Monday afternoon after he was pulled from waters off Ke Iki Beach.

Responding to a 3:30 emergency call, the nearest Ocean Safety personnel used an all-terrain vehicle to travel the half-mile to where the man was located. They brought the unresponsive man back to shore and started life-saving measures.

Arriving paramedics took over treatment and were able to generate a pulse.

The man was transported in critical condition to an area hospital.
