Haleakala Visitor Center closing for 4 weeks

The Haleakala Visitor Center on Maui will close for door repairs on Wednesday for four weeks.

Summit restrooms, trails, sunrise viewing, parking and other visitor facilities will remain open. Park staff will be available at the summit to answer visitors’ questions and provide assistance.

Backcountry permits and visitor information will be available at the Headquarters Visitor Center, at 7000 feet of elevation.

    Let’s see what would happen if we built a homeless shelter at the ten thousand foot elevation level.
