2 hikers airlifted from trail in separate incidents on Oahu
Two hikers needed help from firefighters Sunday night and both had to be airlifted by the department’s helicopter.
A 21-year-old woman contacted the fire department at 7:46 p.m. while hiking on Waahila Ridge.
Twelve firefighters responded and found the woman at 8:14 p.m. on the trail behind the University of Hawaii at Manoa Waahila Faculty Housing. She was treated for a leg injury and airlited to a landing zone and turned over to paramedics.
At 8:10 p.m. a 23-year-old man called for help using his cellphone saying he was lost in Waianae Valley.
After a ground and aerial search the hiker was located at 9:15 p.m. He was airlifted to a landing zone, but did not need medical attention.

Been doing it for 60 years and never needed the chopper yet.

How can anyone get lost? Just hike downwards. Is that so hard to do?
