N.Y. foster parent charged with sexually abusing boys, dog
MINEOLA, N.Y. » A Long Island foster parent is being held on $1 million bond after prosecutors say he sexually abused at least seven young boys over two decades.
Cesar Gonzalez-Mugaburu of Ridge, New York was charged in a 17-count indictment today with child endangerment and sexual misconduct. He is accused of victimizing children as young as 8. He is also accused of sexually abusing a dog.
Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota says Gonzalez-Mugaburu said he has been a foster parent for up to 140 boys since at least 1996, earning as much as $18,000 a month.
His attorney did not immediately return a telephone call seeking comment.
Two boys reported the abuse earlier this year, and prosecutors are investigating whether more boys had been abused.
