No ID, so sell it at government auction and use proceeds for ocean safety education. Too many ocean items WITHOUT an ID. Don’t waste time for Coast Guard. Let them do legitimate search and rescue. What’s so hard?
Yup, name and contact number, that’s all it takes.
I guess too hard for a lot of people, or, they have lots of money to buy new items.
That is not a kayak that would be used by an experienced enthusiast. It was probably purchased some place like COSTCO. Or course the Coast Guard should be concerned. Mr. Paniolo doesn’t seem to have much experience in the ocean and should probably confine his comments to things he knows about, if such a subject exists.
ALL my ocean items have my ID. Don’t want Coast Guard searching for nothing. Mr. Cellodad, if you can brag that you have “degrees from Berkeley” and “advanced degrees from UH Manoa” I guess you didn’t learn how to proofread what you post. It is “OF course…” Not “OR course…” THAT I KNOW. LOLO… I only went to KCC. LOL…
paniolo, you know, I wouldn’t nitpick over minor spelling or punctuation errors if I were you. You can’t possibly know under what circumstances a fellow reader is composing his post. To use myself as an example, there are many, in fact possibly a majority of times, when I’m unable to complete an even brief post without one or more lengthy interruptions. Add to the fact that I could be on any of sixteen different devices from a well-used desktop computer with the keyboard markings worn off, to one of four laptops of differing brands, or to any one of several handheld mobile devices. Depending on which device I’m on, its screen size and the browser it happens to be running at the time, reviewing a composition before hitting the “Post Comment” button is not as easy as perhaps it should be. The point I’m getting at is unless a spelling or punctuation error, or even the omission or repetition of single words, prevents you from understanding what the poster is trying to say, highlighting the error in a reply comes off as rather petty. I have views about folks who compulsively ridicule fellow anonymous posters who use poor grammar, but I’ll let that sleeping dog lie for now.
DeltaDag, I would’ve just let it ride, but, Cellodad went on with his sarcastic remark “Mr. Paniolo doesn’t seem to have much experience in the ocean and should probably confine his comments to things he knows about, if such a subject exists.” How does he know how much experience I have in the ocean? I keep posting comments when people don’t put an ID on their ocean items because it is a waste of Coast Guard resources if they have to search and the owner is safe at home watching the news and sees their ocean item on TV. I’d rather have the Coast Guard prepared for legitimate search and rescues. Thanks for your input.
