Damage from Waimanalo house fire estimated at $120,000
Honolulu firefighters extinguished a residential fire that engulfed a unit of a duplex in Waimanalo today.
Thirty-two firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at a single-story duplex located near the intersection of Poalima Street and Poalima Place at 10:12 a.m. Honolulu Fire Spokesman Capt. David Jenkins said the blaze was under control at 10:35 a.m. and extinguished at 11:36 a.m.
Two men in their 50s who occupy the affected unit were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross is assisting. Jenkins said they were not home at the time of the fire.
Their neighbor in the adjoining unit was able to evacuate without injury.
Damage to the affected unit is estimated at $120,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Glad to hear the occupants weren’t at home and their neighbor escaped without injury. Hope they can rebuild soon.
