Same old question here – where were the parents?

  2. sewing4u says:

    where was the lifeguard?

  3. Bully says:

Hard to believe, Aulani has a ton of lifeguards watching the swimming pool area. Where were the parents of the child?

  4. MANDA says:

No lifeguard at this expensive resort that is marketed to families?

    • localguy says:

They have lifeguards on duty. Until the entire story comes out there will always be a JARP making obtuse posts. Sad.

      • FARKWARD says:

“They have lifeguards on duty.” Do you possess evidence of your allegation?

        • localguy says:

FARKWARD – Clearly you haven’t got a clue how the real world works. Typical JARP. Why would you possible think Disney would not put Lifeguards around water areas where children are playing? Are you really that clueless? Yes you are.

I’ve seen the lifeguards there on duty. In uniform, carrying a long red flotation device, patrolling the areas, watching the water areas, ensuring everyone is being safe. Do notice there are signs posted when they are on duty.

And just to help you out, if you Google “Aulani Disney Resort Lifeguards” you will find plenty of references to show they are on duty, job announcements, so many references.

Kaching!!! Another utterly clueless JARP smacked down. YYYEEESSS!!!!!

Pin it on the lifeguards. The reals question is, Where are the parents?

Aside from the causations, job well done to the Aulani staff for their first aid efforts.

  6. paniolo says:

Hope the boy fully recovers, but, I wonder if the parents/guardians were “distracted” on their cellphones.

    • 4watitsworth says:

I wouldn’t be surprised if you are right paniolo. Too many people always glued to their phones. Kudos to the hotel staff who resuscitated the child! I hope he’ll be fine.

When I read the heading: “Kapolei resort staff resuscitate boy…”
I immediately wondered: Resorts in Kapolei… Wea ???

    Oh.. Aulani aka Ko’Olina !!!

Before you start accusing parents or lifeguards, you might want to get all the facts. Perhaps the parents alerted someone that their child wasn’t visible. Perhaps the lifeguards saw him quickly and responded. They sure acted well when they did see him and probably saved his life.

Don’t be too quick to judge. As a parent of multiple kids, I know sometimes its hard to follow everyone constantly. All it takes is a minute. They probably feel absolutely horrible and need support, not critical comments. It happens so fast sometimes, especially if the pool is crowded and someone just gets bumped or jumped on. Thank goodness he’s alright!!!

Disney has lifeguards, so parents think they don’t have to watch their kids. We see this at beaches also. The responsibility of parents to keep their kids safe does not end just because a pool or beach has lifeguards.
