KAPOLEI » Australia’s Minjee Lee birdied her final hole today for a 4-under 68 and a share of the early first-round lead with Thailand’s Moriya Jutanugarn in the LPGA Tour’s Lotte Championship.

In wind gusting to 30 mph at Ko Olina Golf Club, only nine players broke par in the morning wave.

Brooke Henderson, the 18-year-old Canadian who has finished in the top 10 in six straight events, was a stroke back along with Germany’s Caroline Masson. Cristie Kerr had a 70, and 2013 Lotte champion Suzann Pettersen shot 71. Michelle Wie, the 2014 winner in her home-state event, opened with an 80.

Top-ranked Lydia Ko, coming off consecutive victories in the Kia Classic and major ANA Inspiration, was in the afternoon wave along with No. 2 Inbee Park and No. 3 Lexi Thompson.
