Heavy rains prompt brown water advisory for Honokahua Bay
Maui residents and visitors are being warned that if the waters at Honokahua Bay are brown to stay out because of possible contamination.
The state health department today issued the brown water advisory because the recent heavy rains may have caused possible overflowing of cesspools and sewer manholes. The storm water runoff could contain pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals and associated flood debris.
