Work furlough escapee captured after 10 months on the run

A 49-year-old inmate, who escaped from the Oahu Community Correctional Center eight months ago, was captured Monday in Iwilei.

Rene Adriatico was arrested on suspicion of second-degree escape. He was serving time for drug charges, and police said he failed to return while on a work furlough from the prison on Aug 1.

George Goings, 41, who failed to return from a work furlough on May 31, was captured on Molokai Monday and returned today to OCCC. t

Goings was serving time for various drug offenses and firearms violation.

    Why they don’t put tracking devices on these work furlough inmates is beyond me. I am sure the costs would be outweighed by the liability lawsuits on their criminal action while on the loose. Once again, who the heck is in charge–just common sense???
