Makaha’s Yancy Medeiros suffered his second loss in five fights.

Makaha’s Yancy Medeiros suffered his second loss in five fights, dropping a unanimous decision to Francisco Trinaldo in a preliminary lightweight bout at UFC 198 tonight in Curitiba, Brazil.

A capacity crowd of 45,000 — the third-largest in UFC history — watched Medeiros (12-4, 3-4 UFC) withstand an unbelievable amount of punishment against Trinaldo (20-4, 10-3), who won his sixth consecutive fight.

Medeiros was nearly finished in round one and dominated in the second round before landing an overhand right that dropped Trinaldo in the final 10 seconds.

Trinaldo survived to the bell and then unloaded another beating on Medeiros in the third round, which somehow ended with Medeiros in top position on the ground.

The judges scored the bout 29-26, 30-27 and 30-26 in favor of Trinaldo.

According to stats at ufc.com, Medeiros was hit with 110 significant strikes, including 53 in the third round alone.

Trinaldo landed 121 of 184 total strikes, while Medeiros landed 60 of 180.
