CRIMESTOPPERS

Honolulu police and CrimeStoppers released images of two suspects in the robbery of the Y-7 Grocery and Liquor store on May 13.

Honolulu police and CrimeStoppers are seeking the public’s help in finding suspects in two robberies at the same Kalihi convenience store in less than a week.

One of the incidents sent a 76-year-old woman to the hospital with serious injuries.

CrimeStoppers and police released security camera video of a robbery on Monday that shows a suspect come up from behind and put a 76-year-old woman, the owner of the Y-7 Grocery and Liquor store, in a submission hold until she appeared to pass out.

The earlier robbery happened about 9 a.m. May 13 when two masked men entered the store at 1323 Gulick Avenue. The men approached a 74-year-old man, the store’s co-owner, brandished weapons, and demanded money.

One of the men opened the cash register and both suspects fled on foot in an unknown direction, a CrimeStoppers release said.

On Monday evening, three men entered the store, one grabbed the woman and pulled her into an aisle while another man went behind the counter and took money from the register, CrimeStoppers said. The third man acted as a lookout, the CrimeStoppers bulletin said.

Police said a customer walking into the convenience store after the robbery found the 76-year-old woman bleeding on the ground at about 6 p.m.

Police said the woman was taken to the hospital with serious injuries to her head.

Police said it’s not clear if the suspects are the same in both robberies.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8399 or *CRIME from a cell phone.

You need a cerebral tune-up. Your synapses are not firing properly – or at all. This is a sickening story/video of a robbery where disgusting thugs dare to assault elderly proprietors, and you make it a political issue. Not the smartest in your class, were you?

Fact is, We live in one of the most perp-friendly states in the nation – liberal laws and judges.

Why are they disgusting thugs? People with jobs generally don’t steal. It is a political matter. Choose wisely.

There’s no mystery why these crooks target the victims they do. If the victim is of small physique or elderly, then no firearm is required to force compliance; strong-arm tactics (anybody recall the Michael Brown video?) will suffice and avoids enhanced sentencing that use of a firearm during a felony might justify.

It is true, however, that choaking an elderly victim (the woman was over 60 years old) during the course of committing or attempting to commit a felony, can itself merit an extended prison term if serious or substantial bodily injury is inflicted.

A pack of cowards who should have been disciplined better by their parents.

    Cowardly punks.

  7. inverse says:

In the video, did the police blur out the perpetuator’s face? If that is the case why the shatz would, they protect the guilty? The last video of some attacker the police made public, the police clearly blurred out the attackers face.

  11. Maipono says:

Totally despicable, they should be captured and caged like the wild animals they are. No conscience in the least bit, these animals are to be pitied before they are put away for life. But this is liberal Hawaii, even if they are caught, they will be on the streets again real soon
