  • Mayor is also going to visit Boston’s Big Dig, Grabauskas previous fiasco. One thing you can say about Grabauskas, he’s consistent, consistently bad. City knew of his track record when they hired him and guess where we are now. He had a big buyout when he was fired just like UH coaches.

    • So true and that will also mean he can right off the trip. Such corruption surrounds the entire fiasco. The other thing is if they would have used light rail it would have saved millions per mile. Big time bribes go on here.

  • Yes, the apple does not fall far from the tree. I suspect, she has learned from the best. Too bad it has nothing to do with
    being a good person.

  • Our good mayor is pro-rail because he has seen first hand how rail transit has benefited Boston for over a century. Many naysayers here have never experienced riding rail rapid transit and don’t understand that rail is the most efficient and effective transportation to move large volumes of people through congested urban areas. We need to mitigate the cost overruns and get rail finished the right way for our long term better future.

    • Haha, you’re delusional. You still don’t get it. Honolulu is a small city with only about 1 million taxpayers. It is not Boston. You are seriously deluded. This is just a way for Caldwell to take taxpayer money and hand it over to big business rail interests. He is looting the City.

      • Actually, Oahu has about 1 million residents. The elderly, disabled, kids and welfare recipients don’t pay taxes.

I believe Oahu has about 400,000 to 500,000 taxpayers.

    • How will rail be better for our long term future? The construction costs and the heavy burden on the operations and maintenance will push the city to the brink of bankruptcy.

Hawaii already has the highest cost of living (Or one of the highest) in the US and the rail will only make it worse.

  • While Caldwell is in Boston maybe he should do his own survey of GRABauskas efficiency over the transit system in Boston. Maybe it was the same MONEY GRAB!

  • He is going to Boston so the people there can laugh in his face when he tells them who’s in charge of the rail system in his fair city. My friends laughed when i told them who’s in charge. Live and learn.

  • Do you guys have anything to do all day but complain? He’s just a good parent doing what all parents want — seeing their kid graduate college. Give it a rest for god’s sake.
