SAN FRANCISCO >> Prosecutors have charged two suspects in the death of a homeless man who was brutally assaulted over three days and whose body was found floating last month in a pond in San Francisco’s Golden Gate park.
San Francisco Officer Carlos Manfredi said Tuesday investigators are looking for more suspects in the slaying of 66-year-old Stephen Williams.
He says police received evidence from members of community that led to the arrests of 19-year-old Stephen Billingsley and 36-year-old Nikki Lee Williams, both transients.
According to court documents the assault on the homeless man started on May 22 and continued through May 24, when his body was found.
Manfredi says neither of the two suspects had a connection to Williams, who had struggled with homelessness for many years.
They are being held in jail with bail set at $1 million each.
