Firefighters, Coast Guard assist vessel stranded on reef near Ala Moana Bowls

Honolulu firefighters and Coast Guard personnel assisted passengers from a catamaran that got stranded on a reef near the Ala Moana Bowls surf spot this evening.

Sixteen people, including two children, were aboard the vessel. No injuries were reported.

Rescue workers assisted in transporting 14 people to shore. The captain of the vessel and another person opted to remain on the boat overnight.

Fire rescue personnel will reassess the situation in the morning.
