NEW YORK >> Additional police officers are being deployed to airports in New York City and New Jersey after an attack at an airport in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey said Tuesday that travelers should expect to see officers with tactical weapons patrolling at New York’s John F. Kennedy and LaGuardia airports and at New Jersey’s Newark International Airport.

Port Authority officials said they were continuing to monitor the situation in Turkey alongside federal and local officials, including the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch said that love and compassion are the best responses to terrorism during remarks to the media in Orlando, Florida on Tuesday.

  2. Mr Mililani says:

Newark Airport is already a mess. You have to arrive hours early or you may miss your flight. The security people there don’t care about you or your catching a flight. Their only concern is security and if you miss your plane it’s your fault…you should have gotten to the airport earlier. Their attitude is typical East coast and there’s nothing that can be done about it. We used to always stop at Newark on our way to Europe but now fly directly from California to avoid the headaches. Of course, we have to miss all the NYC shows, great food, etc. but that’s the way it goes.

Why must there be a terrorist attack at an airport before security is increased at other airports?
