UH close to inking deal with men’s volleyball coach Wade

The University of Hawaii and men’s volleyball coach Charlie Wade are finalizing details on a contract extension.
Financial details were not available. The contract extension reportedly is for three years.
“We’re in the final stages of working on a multi-year contract with Charlie,” UH athletic director David Matlin told the Honolulu Star-Advertiser today. “We’re excited to have him continue on as our Warrior head coach.”
Wade signed a five-year contract in 2009 as successor to Mike Wilton. In 2014, Wade signed a two-year extension that expires at the end of this month.
Wade has a 107-91 record in seven seasons as UH head coach. Under Wade, the Warriors qualified for the postseason five times, including an advancement to the NCAA tournament in 2015. The Warriors are 40-19 the past two seasons.

Great to hear Charlie will be our coach for many years to come. Our teams have been gaining strength in recent years and his recruits have been awesome. Excited to see the incoming team with Austin Matautia and possibly Tui Tuileta (?) but will surely miss Siki and Kolby.

And what do you consider cheap because his present salary certainly isn’t in the cheap category.
They are paying the man, very richly too. Justify his high pay – can’t with his spotty record in a money losing sport. He’s getting paid well enough, no raise is called for, incentives for good performance only.
Wait. Qualifying for the MPSF tourney shouldn’t really qualify as the postseason.
Even though we’ve mostly under-performed in his tenure–there’s a lot of parity in the sport and it feels like the program is on an upswing.
