Tinman Triathlon rescheduled due to high wind, rain
The 36th Tinman Triathlon, which had been set for Sunday, has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 31.
Organizers had postponed the event in advance of approatching Tropical Storm Darby.Organizers cited high wind and rain that would affect all segments of the multi-sport event particularly the cycling portion.
“We are committed to safety of the participants, as well as the volunteers and the community,” an e-mail sent from the race committee to all entrants said. “”We apologize for any inconvenience for competitors, especially those coming to Oahu from the neighbor island, the mainland and other countries.”
The Tinman is comprised of a 750-meter swim off Queen’s Beach, a 40-kilometer bike ride from Kapiolani Park to Hawaii Kai and return, and a 10-kilometer run from Kapiolani Park around Diamond Head and return.
