A leaking 1,150-gallon propane tank at a Lahaina business has led to evacuations on Maui.

Maui Fire Department officials said crews were on scene with Amerigas personnel on Ulupono Street, where a leak at the bottom of the propane tank was found at about 11:20 a.m. today.

There have been no illnesses or injuries reported, but fire crews will remain at the site as Amerigas personnel work to empty the leaking tank to a mobile propane tanker, which could take more than two hours to complete. “Evacuations will remain in effect until the offloading is completed and the area is deemed safe,” fire officials said.
